The Cabinet of Ministers has approved awarding of a contract to build the internal wastewater collection network and pumping system at the Textile Manufacturing Investment Zone in the Punnai Kuda area of the Eravurpattu Divisional Secretariat Division, Batticaloa District.
On 2 November 2020, the Cabinet had earlier approved the development of infrastructure facilities in the investment zone. Bids for the construction work were invited under the National Competitive Procurement Procedure, and seven were submitted. “After evaluating them, the High-Level Procurement Committee recommended CGC-KDESH JV, a joint venture of China Geo Engineering Corporation and KD Ebert and Sons Holdings Ltd., as the lowest responsive bidder,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.
He said the Cabinet approved awarding the contract to the joint venture for Rs. 511.78 million, excluding VAT.The proposal to this effect was submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as the Finance, Planning and Economic Development Minister.
